The AIM Stock/ETF Buy/Sell Transaction Calculator (the "AIM Calculator program") implements the AIM concept to calculate the quantity of a stock (or ETF) to buy or sell, depending on the price and your past transaction history with the stock, to ensure long-term profitability.  Using this program properly will FORCE you to REALLY Buy Low and Sell High.

Using the AIM Calculator program, you can enter a price and determine if you should buy or sell and, if so, how many shares. (Warning:  Use Limit Orders; Do NOT use Market Orders.)

The AIM Calculator program allows you to calculate potential buys and sells in advance, so you can put in GTC Buy Limit orders and Sell Limit orders with your broker.  Then you can check during the day or evening to see if your order was filled.  If your order was filled, then you may calculate new buys and sells depending on the new parameters and place new orders.

The AIM Calculator program is an easy to use implementation of the "Automatic Investment Management" (AIM) method developed by Robert Lichello in his best-selling book How to Make $1,000,000 in the Stock Market Automatically!   (Don't be put off by the hokey title.  If you follow the method properly you WILL Buy Low and Sell High.) AIM is perhaps the most popular and well-known Core Position Trading method, used by traders in over 60 countries.

The AIM Calculator program considers the effect of commissions on the amount to buy or sell at various prices, which Lichello did not.  Considering the effect of commissions gives a "real price" upon which to base the calculations, allowing precision in your orders and ensuring that even very small trades will give good portfolio results.

The AIM Calculator program calculates the quantity (rounded to even shares), if any, to buy or sell at a given entered price.  It also shows the exact quantity (including fractional shares), the corresponding buy or sell dollar market order, and the real price, including commissions, for that entered price.

The prices for the next minimum buy or sell order, according to the AIM algorithm, also may be calculated.

The minimum order criteria can be based on a minimum dollar amount, a percentage of Portfolio Control, a percentage of Stock Value, and/or a percentage of Total Account Value.

The AIM Calculator program also shows the results if the buy and sell commissions were zero, the results for the exact quantity, and the results for the rounded quantity.  This allows the comparison of the entered price vs the real price and illustrates the effect of commissions.

Another feature of the AIM Calculator program is the loop calculation for a range of prices and a price increment that you enter.  The results are presented in a list for on-screen viewing or print-out.  The list alleviates the need for hand entering a large number of prices for "what if" calculations at different prices.

System requirements are a minimal PC with Windows 95 or later.

I use this spreadsheet (with MY data instead of the sample data shown).  I use it to keep track of "how I'm doing" and of my next BUY and SELL limit order GTC prices that I have pre-calculated with the aid of the AIM Transaction Calculator Program described here.

I update it after every transaction and have calculated what my next transaction(s) should be.  I also update it weekly with the latest 52 week highs and lows, and the latest closing prices.
