INTRODUCTION  AND  BACKGROUND

This spreadsheet is where you can summarize your AIM Account (AC) holdings and other AIM information, price information, and your next AIM BUY and SELL trigger prices, etc.  It does not "tell" you what to do; it is for your record keeping, including seeing how you are doing.  It does not replace the running transaction histories and calculations spreadsheets/worksheets you keep for each AC (whatever you use similar to those shown in the Lichello book).

I update my copy of the spreadsheet after each AC transaction with new values of cash, shares held, transaction price, next BUY and SELL price, Portfolio Control (PoCo), etc., for the particular AC.  Weekly, I update the recent prices (usually Friday's closing prices) and the 52-week highs and lows.

An AIM Account (AC) is ONE stock, Exchange Traded Fund (ETF), or other mutual fund.  Each AC has its own column in the spreadsheet.  In a brand new copy of the spreadsheet, these columns are labeled BBB, CCC, DDD, etc.  Replace any or all of those with the symbol(s) for your ACs, e.g., HL, HMY, SSRI, whatever.

The spreadsheet is protected, so you cannot type letters or numbers into any cell containing a formula or some headings.  You can unprotect the sheet if you wish.  If you don't know how to unprotect the sheet (no password is required), you shouldn't be doing that anyway. :-)

The leftmost column contains the row titles, which are referred to in the details below.

Sheet 1 is for current information.
Sheet 2 is for if you are curious as to what your gain (or loss) would be, after various transactions, if the price returned (up or down) to the price of your original AC establishing transaction(s).

SPREADSHEET  CELL  CONTENTS  INFORMATION

Sheet 1

Symbol:
You should replace BBB, CCC, DDD, etc., with your AC symbols.  Make any unused cells blank.

Note Ref:
Don't change these.
They refer to any notes you may care to make at the bottom of the table.

Trade Method:
You can change these cells or make them blank.  If you use different variations of AIM for different ACs, you might change some cells to, e.g., AIM1, AIM2, or whatever.

Next Sell Price:
These are the prices for your next AIM SELL as you have calculated.  Make any unused cells zero (0).

Next Sell Qty:
These are the quantities for your next AIM SELL as you have calculated.  Make any unused cells zero (0).

Net Proceeds:
Calculated -- do not change.
Uses Next Sell Price and Next Sell Qty.  Does not include commissions.

Next Buy Price:
These are the prices for your next AIM BUY as you have calculated.  Make any unused cells zero (0).

Next Buy Qty:
These are the quantities for your next AIM BUY as you have calculated.  Make any unused cells zero (0).

Net Cost:
Calculated -- do not change.
Uses Next Buy Price and Next Buy Qty.  Does not include commissions.

52 Week Hi:
High price for the last year, as found on Yahoo, your broker site, etc.  Optional.  Make any unused cells zero (0).

Recent Price:
The price "right now", at the end of the day, the end of the week, whatever.  Used in formulas in other cells.  Make any unused cells zero (0).

52 Week Lo:
Low price for the last year, as found on Yahoo, your broker site, etc.  Optional.  Make any unused cells zero (0).

Recent Stock Value:
Calculated -- do not change.
Uses the Recent Price and Shares Total.

Cash:
After each transaction, you will have spent or received some cash.  Update the current total with the transaction amount, including commission.  Make any unused cells zero (0).

Total Value:
Calculated -- do not change.
Uses the Recent Stock Value and Cash.

Capital:
Capital is the money you set up a particular AC with.  Make any unused cells zero (0).
Capital is not the same as Cash.  Capital is what you set up an AC with.  Some of that capital goes into your initial stock position in the AC.  Some remains in the Cash Reserve (Cash) for that AC.  BUY and SELL transactions in an AC do NOT affect the Capital.  BUY and SELL transaction in an AC do, naturally, effect the Cash.  If you add money from "outside" the AC to the Cash or take money out of the AC Cash to "outside", that amount is added to or subtracted from the AC Capital.

$ Gain / Loss:
Calculated -- do not change.
Uses the Total Value and Capital.

% Gain / Loss:
Calculated -- do not change.
Uses the Total Value and Capital.  Expressed as a percentage.

% G / L Annualized:
Calculated -- do not change.
Uses the Total Value and Capital, and the Initial Date vs "Today's Date".  Expressed as a percentage.

AIM PoCo:
This is the latest Portfolio Control value you have calculated for the AC.  Optional.  Make any unused cells zero (0).

Shares (Broker 1):
Shares in the AC held by Broker 1.  Make any unused cells zero (0).
The Heading "Shares (Broker 1):" can be changed to "Shares ([your broker name]):"

Shares (Broker 2):
Shares in the AC held by Broker 2.  Make any unused cells zero (0).
The Heading "Shares (Broker 2):" can be changed to "Shares ([your broker name]):"

Shares Total:
Calculated -- do not change.
Total of Shares (Broker 1) and Shares (Broker 2).

Cost / Sh:
Calculated -- do not change.
Uses Cash, Capital, and Shares Total.

Cash / Total Val:
Calculated -- do not change.
Uses Cash and Total Value expressed as a percentage.  Some AIMsters use this in deciding whether or not to adjust PoCo if there is "too much" cash in a particular AC.  I am investigating the appropriate use of this factor, if any.
Cell color turns yellow if value is greater than 30%.  Cell color turns red if value is negative.

Note X:  (XXX)
Any notes you care to make about a particular AC.

Sheet 2

Date Order:
Calculated -- do not change.
Rank of Initial Dates of ACs, oldest to newest.  Any unused cells will be filled automatically as "#N/A".

Initial Date:
Enter the date of the original AC establishing transaction.  In unused cells, put a date earlier than any of the used cells (e.g., "1998-01-01")

Initial Price (IP):
Enter the price of the original AC establishing transaction, or the average price if more than one transaction was made in establishing the AC.  Make any unused cells zero (0).

All Other Cells:
Calculated -- do not change.
The calculated values correspond to those on Sheet 1, except these values on Sheet 2 are based on the Initial Price instead of the Recent (Current) Price.
