AIM Stock/ETF/Mutual Fund
Position Overview Spreadsheet
User Document
( for aim_position_overview-v3d0.ods and .xls )
INTRODUCTION AND BACKGROUND
This spreadsheet is where you can summarize your AIM Account (AC) holdings
and other AIM information, price information, and your next AIM BUY and
SELL trigger prices, etc.
It does not "tell" you what to do; it is for your record keeping,
including seeing how you are doing.
It does not replace the running transaction histories and calculations
spreadsheets/worksheets you keep for each AC (whatever you use similar to
those shown in the Lichello book).
I update my copy of the spreadsheet after each AC transaction with new
values of cash, shares held, transaction price, next BUY and SELL price,
Portfolio Control (PoCo), etc., for the particular AC.
Weekly, I update the recent prices (usually Friday's closing prices) and
the 52-week highs and lows.
An AIM Account (AC) is ONE stock, Exchange Traded Fund (ETF),
or other mutual fund.
Each AC has its own column in the spreadsheet.
In a brand new copy of the spreadsheet, these columns are labeled BBB, CCC,
DDD, etc.
Replace any or all of those with the symbol(s) for your ACs, e.g., HL, HMY,
SSRI, whatever.
The spreadsheet is protected, so you cannot type letters or numbers into
any cell containing a formula or some headings.
You can unprotect the sheet if you wish.
If you don't know how to unprotect the sheet (no password is required),
you shouldn't be doing that anyway. :-)
The leftmost column contains the row titles, which are referred to
in the details below.
Sheet 1 is for current information.
Sheet 2 is for if you are curious as to what your
gain (or loss) would be, after various transactions, if the price returned
(up or down) to the price of your original AC establishing transaction(s).

Capital is not the same as Cash.
Capital is what you set up an AC with.
Some of that capital goes into your initial stock position in the AC.
Some remains in the Cash Reserve (Cash) for that AC.
BUY and SELL transactions in an AC do NOT affect the Capital.
BUY and SELL transaction in an AC do, naturally, effect the Cash.
If you add money from "outside" the AC to the Cash or take money
out of the AC Cash to "outside", that amount is added to or
subtracted from the AC Capital.

Uses Cash, Capital, and Shares Total.
Cash / Total Val:
Calculated -- do not change.
Uses Cash and Total Value expressed as a percentage.
Some AIMsters use this in deciding whether or not to adjust PoCo if
there is "too much" cash in a particular AC.
I am investigating the appropriate use of this factor, if any.
Cell color turns yellow if value is greater than 30%.
Cell color turns red if value is negative.
Note X: (XXX)
Any notes you care to make about a particular AC.
Sheet 2
Date Order:
Calculated -- do not change.
Rank of Initial Dates of ACs, oldest to newest.
Any unused cells will be filled automatically as "#N/A".

Enter the date of the original AC establishing transaction.
In unused cells, put a date earlier than any of the used cells (e.g., "1998-01-01")
Initial Price (IP):
Enter the price of the original AC establishing transaction, or the
average price if more than one transaction was made in establishing
the AC.
Make any unused cells zero (0).
