In the "olden days" the Human Resources Departments used to be called Personnel Departments. That was when corporations still made at least a pretense of "caring" about their employees.
Nowadays, they have given up the pretense, thus the changes in names to Human Resources Departments.
You realize of course, that a resource is something that you use up and then discard the remnants.
