POLICY REGARDING POTENTIAL PRIVACY VIOLATIONS --
YOUR PRIVACY IS RESPECTED
- JAVA
There is no Java used on any page in this site, and no
such use is foreseen.
If, in the future, Java is used, a notice
will be posted at the top of any page(s) using such.
- ActiveX
There is no ActiveX used on any page in this site, and no
such use is foreseen.
If, in the future, ActiveX is used, a notice
will be posted at the top of any page(s) using such.
- Cookies
There are no Cookies sent (or attempted to be sent) from
any page in this site, and no such use is foreseen.
If, in the future, Cookies are used, a notice
will be posted at the top of any page(s) using such.
Cookies are used to track specific individual actions.
OASIS has no interest in violating your privacy by
planting cookies related to YOUR specific
vists or specific pages visited.
To the extent that OASIS is interested in statistics,
it is in hits and page views; that is, it is interested
only in aggregate, not individual (yours or other's)
statistics.
OASIS uses a service which provides aggregate statistics
only.
- Mailing List
OASIS uses its own "in-house" compiled e-mail mailing list,
and it may from time-to-time use outside lists.
Naturally, OASIS has no control over outside lists.
The OASIS list will not be sold or provided to any other
party (unless it is unable to withstand the duress of a
state).
OASIS may, from time-to-time, make mailings for other
sympathetic individuals or organizations.
Under no circumstances will you be subjected to the latest
"MLM du jour" or "university diploma" promotion through
the OASIS list.
A NOTE REGARDING THE "PRIVACY" POLICIES OF
OTHER WEB SITES
In the name of "coolness" and/or in the interests of
"nosiness", many sites
gratuitously use Java, ActiveX, JavaScript, and/or Cookies
when there is no real technical need for such.
Such technical needs are actually rather rare, primarily
only for
on-line merchandising and investment brokerage sites.
As far as I am concerned, any site that requires activation
of any of those items just to view pages is suspect at best,
and dangerous at worst.
Let the webmasters of those sites know that you don't
appreciate their nosiness, whether deliberate or not.
